Come From Away (PREVIEW PERFORMANCE)

COME FROM AWAY (PREVIEW PERFORMANCE)

Preview performances are common in the theatre industry for long running events and the Savoy is having our first official preview performance after the overwhelming demand for Come From Away. A preview is the first public performance of a show’s run that gives the cast, crew, and technical team the opportunity to do the show with an audience and to tweak any elements that need polishing before the official Opening Night. Ticket prices reflect the understanding that the production is still being shaped and is “in progress”, but is very near to the final result.

BOOK, MUSIC & LYRICS BY IRENE SANKOFF AND DAVID HEIN

The breathtaking musical written by Tony Award nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the communities in Newfoundland and Labrador that welcomed them on 9/11.

Come from Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

Come From Away is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI www.mtishows.com
