As they close out their cross-country 40th Anniversary Tour, beloved multi-award-winning Cape Breton group, the Barra MacNeils bring their East Coast Christmas concerts back to the Maritimes. The Barra MacNeils seasonal show will take audiences on an intimate journey, telling stories and performing the timeless music from their outstanding 40-year career. “It’s incredible to think that we have been making music and maintaining a fan base for 40 years!” says Stewart MacNeil. “So much has happened in our lives in that time. People come and people go. Music fads come and go. How people consume music has changed. Yet as a family we have beat the odds with the help of supportive family at home and supportive fans when we tour. And somehow we’ve managed to pick up new fans along the way. It really is something to celebrate.”
Regarded as one of the greatest live concert acts in the Celtic world, The Barra MacNeils are Kyle MacNeil (vocals, guitar, violin, mandolin), Lucy MacNeil (vocals, bodhrán, Celtic harp, fiddle, step dancing), Sheumas MacNeil (keyboards, piano, bodhrán, fiddle, bouzouki, vocals), Stewart MacNeil (vocals, accordion, tin whistle, flute, bouzouki, guitar, step dancing), and Boyd MacNeil (mandolin, fiddle, guitar, banjo, percussion, step dancing).
