ISLAND GIRLS – PAY PER VIEW

The Island Girls are back! After a highly successful debut in 2018, followed by an encore performance and tour in 2019, the Island Girls are together again with a brand new show. This time, the Savoy Theatre wants to deliver it right into your living room.

ISLAND GIRLS Music and Comedy features four of Cape Breton Island’s busiest performers: Bette MacDonald, Heather Rankin, Lucy MacNeil, and Jenn Sheppard. They are backed by seasoned musicians Stephen Muise with Fred Lavery, Brian Talbot, and Em Dingwall.

Crediting the show as the “perfect pick-me-up”, Savoy Theatre Manager, Pam Leader says it’s an announcement the Savoy couldn’t wait to share, “We’ve been planning and arranging this for months, altering details when necessary, due to restrictions.  Although we can’t offer a live in-person performance at this time, we are putting the Island Girls back onto our Savoy stage and we’ll be streaming them into homes, no matter where you live or what your current restrictions are.”

Working once again with Nova Stream Productions, the company that brought the Savoy’s 2020 Christmas shows to viewers everywhere, The Island Girls are ready to combine their talents and personalities to deliver favoured melodies, original compositions, tributes, touching stories, and belly-laughs; all with a uniquely Cape Breton twist.

“Obviously, we want to safely host live audiences again, but until it’s feasible for us to do so, the streaming service allows us to utilize and showcase our incredible facility, put Savoy staff to work, employ a local business and provide a high-quality performance for all to enjoy,” says Leader.

Stephen Muise is the show’s creator and director, who recognized the potential of combining these particular performers long ago, “These talented women each represent something different about the entertainment industry in Cape Breton, so the show is non-stop fun, just bursting with energy and awesome music. They fit so well together, you might think they were sisters,” says Muise.

The Savoy Theatre is happy to offer viewers this special performance of Island Girls, LIVE from the Savoy Theatre stage on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 7 pm. Once purchased, the entire performance will be available to view for the duration of the long weekend (until Sunday, May 23). “We want to give everyone the opportunity to watch, no matter their schedule, time zone, or restriction situation,” says Leader. “Get your family and friends together on the long weekend and let this show lift your spirits.”
